Sexy ceramics by Tamarillo
Since I’ve blogged about Tamarillo Ceramics
I couldn’t wait to find out more about the talented Lorrae Mehmel that creates these gorgeous pieces. This is her story…

“It all began when I worked as a gallery assistant, I was always surrounded by beautiful objects, but was never brave enough or should I say ready to start doing my own thing.
I started painting decorative ceramic plates which was only sold at galleries in small quantities, but having worked in galleries myself I know just how frustrating it was handling delicate unglazed objects, always terrified I’d either break or dirty them. I decided to come up with a dishwasher safe piece of art that was stronger, more user friendly and what I consider chic…
I make simplistic but cheeky, ceramic objects that can go from the wall to the table and then into the dishwasher. I create functional pieces, that you can place on a table by itself to create an artistic impression.
I work with ceramics, canvas and everything else I might be fascinated with. I am a free spirited artist, always wanting to create something different and always ready to try a new medium.

My inspiration comes from that which surrounds me, the trees, mountains, life and emotions, being it good or bad.
The highs and lows…
My proudest moments are when people believe in my talent, knowing I have inspired people enough to put their faith in me…
I admire people that can make things happen. I cannot stand the talkers as I have been one for long enough!
My future plans are written in the stars. I hope and pray I can open a big enough studio one day so that I could take over the world one plate at a time.
I am truly blessed.. ”
Watch out world, here is a new force to be reckoned with!!
